The Ron Butler Character in Adversity Award is given to an individual or individuals who have demonstrated all aspects of character, especially those of Commitment, Determination and Courage, in spite of extreme adversity due to health or other catastrophic event. This award is not given annually. It is reserved for those compelling stories of individuals who, when faced with some of life’s worst challenges, can face them head on and succeed in spite of them. These are stories of true character that deserve to be highlighted. Generally, this award is given with a stipend or grant from the Blanton Collier Sportsmanship Group to a foundation or scholarship fund to help further the efforts of those groups involved.
